Your pain may come and go, but it’s gradually moving up your spine — and it’s getting worse
AS is considered a progressive chronic disease. And even if the symptoms can be made less severe through exercise and medication, the condition might continue to worsen. Meaning, symptoms will be sporadic and won’t dissipate for good.
Pain and inflammation in the lower parts of the back and up the spine can result, further down the line, in a fusion in the vertebrae, which in turn, causes a forward curvature of the spine (kyphosis).
This can only be avoided through early diagnosis and treatment.
